Classification and usage of pearlescent materials
Date:2022-12-16
Pearlescent material, as a high brightness material to improve the added value of products, is currently used well in the printing industry. It can improve the brightness of product color, and also change the color rendering effect. It is a new material used for packaging printing and color printing.
Pearlescent materials are mainly divided into the following categories:
1. Pearlescent powder
Pearlescent powder can be divided into ordinary powder pearlescent materials and pearlescent balls dispersed with soft resin. The main colors are silver, bright gold, metal, rainbow interference color and chameleon series. Pearlescent powder has different particle sizes according to the direction and effect of use. The smaller the particle size, the stronger the hiding power of pearlescent powder; The larger the particle size is, the stronger the luster of pearlescent powder is; There are strict requirements for particle size in the printing industry. Small particle size can be used for offset printing, and larger particle size can be used for flexography and gravure printing, with better results.
2. Pearlescent paste
Pearlescent paste is a kind of pearlescent material with high viscosity, which is suitable for mixing with offset printing ink. It has excellent hiding power and good glossiness, and is suitable for offset printing.
In terms of the use of pearlescent materials, there are the following methods:
1. In offset printing, pearlescent powder with smaller particle size shall be mixed with printing ink in a certain proportion for printing; Or use water-based, UV glazing system to add a certain proportion of pearlescent powder in the glazing oil for glazing coating, with better effect; When the pearlescent paste and offset printing ink are mixed in a certain proportion for printing, the ink brightness and ink effect can be greatly improved;
2. For intaglio printing and flexographic printing, the pearlescent powder with the particle size corresponding to the printing plate shall be mixed with the ink for use;
3. The pearlescent effect is related to the carrying capacity and mixing ratio of the ink to the pearlescent.
